Wire Portraits

Following a contour drawing project, and preceding a 3D wire project, students were to make wire portraits. They began by looking in a mirror and drawing their face using only one (contour) line. Later, they stapled wire to the contour pencil lines. This project familiarizes students with the medium of wire, and prepares them to think in 3D. And the results were quite good!

Not made from one line, but still an awesome portrait.

Again, not made from one line, but still very effective.

This student chose to do an owl.
